How to resize your image for digital competition entry using Picasa

1. Open Picasa.

2. Select your image by double clicking on one of the thumbnails

3. For re-sizing:
Click the file menu (top left hand side of your window) highlight export to folder.
A window should open in the middle of your screen like below

Click "Browse"- a third screen will appear, highlight "Desktop" then ok

4. Leave the name of the export folder as it appears

Resize to: For a landscape image move the slider to 1600: for portrait images click the number box and enter 1200. Leave image quality to automatic then click OK.

Your new image is now in the folder on your desktop re-sized to a maximum of 1600 pixels wide or 1200 high.

5. To SAVE.- you can now re-open the image into Picasa and 'Save as' into your chosen folder giving it the correct name for competition.

eg  If you are a Division 1 or Division 2 entrant you would start with Div1 or Div2 then add your membership number followed by image number 01, 02 or 03 e.g. Div1101103. Next add the title of the image after the code part, for example - Div2101103 Go for Goal.

Click Save
